MiCBT Foundation Course
Mindfulness-integrated CBT is an established mindfulness-based therapy specifically designed to address a wide range of clinical and subclinical conditions. For mental health therapists to successfully implement mindfulness-based therapies, such as MiCBT, it is essential that they first develop their own skills before learning to implement them with their clients/patients. During the Foundation course, you will develop a sound understanding of MiCBT principles, theory and practice. Following this course, you may then enroll in the Applied Course and learn under supervision to implement Mindfulness-integrated CBT with your clients/patients.
This foundational course will involve didactic, practical and experiential means of learning, including:

- masterclasses delivered online

Completion of MiCBT Workshop for Chronic Conditions, Crisis Intervention & Relapse Prevention required.
You will learn:
- core and advanced mindfulness meditation skills
- theoretical underpinnings and fundamentals of mindfulness practice to understand the complex foundations of behaviour maintenance and change

To be able to integrate "East" and "West" in such a powerful fashion is a great thing. I loved CBT already; the integration with Mindfulness adds a major turbo-charger on the whole process. Looking forward to the next module!

I really enjoyed the course.
I feel it was very beneficial for my practice and I can see how it can be applied to my clients and also personally.
I would recommend this course to other professionals not only as a therapeutic intervention technique but also as a philosophy of living.
Amanda, Clinical Psychologist, WA commented on 11-Dec-2013 12:38 PM
I found this course both personally and professionally helpful. So much so that I have moved my practice from being "eclectically" based to being MiCBT based. This is due to the usefulness of this technique in treating most (if not all) psychological distress. I have seen an enormous positive change in the way I deal with both distressing situations and interpersonal relationships. In addition, all clients involved in following this treatment begin to see benefits within one or two session of starting the techniques.

The structure and delivery mode for this course is great - accessible to remote people like me - and also the time span allows integration of concepts so much better than a single isolated workshop

This course was challenging on a personal and professional level. It was terrific to be reminded of the benefits of practice and to have the opportunity to revisit early concepts in a fresh and vibrant way. The approach is applicable at many levels and my patients have benefitted from them.

The Foundation Course for me was the opening of a door both personally and professionally. The re-introduction to meditation to the level attained and gaining knowledge of being truly mindful was an experiential journey that took me through a vast degree of emotions and growth.. there is a continuation to that learning each day with a greater awareness and calmness.
Meditation is now my breakfast and my supper...a time of day for absolute peace and revitalisation.
The learning, support and understanding from Bruno throughout the course and the knowledge imparted was invaluable and transformational.
I look forward to the next stage of learning with the Applied Course.

The Foundation Course is a unique opportunity for experiential learning at its best. I found it to be transformative personally and professionally.

I was extremely satisfied with the course. It was personally and professionally thought-provoking and motivating. Bruno provided valuable educational information and experiential skill development in the integration of Mindfulness Meditation and CBT. I feel much more confident in both my practice of MM and in applying MiCBT with clients. Bruno is an exceptionally talented and insightful teacher. The time was well spent and I am thankful for the opportunity.

The Foundation course has helped me engage with mindfulness practice and CBT tools in a more profound, truly integrated manner, and has been empowering both personally and professionally.

I am grateful that Dr. Cayoun was able to come to Canada and introduce MiCBT and that he had designed a method to allow those of us, far from Tasmania, to receive further training in the model. I am excited about participating in the Applied Course and to begin treating patients using the program. As a Vipassana student and practitioner it was heartwarming to have the traditional Theravada framework given its due, and it was evident that Dr. Cayoun is not only a gifted clinician but also an experienced meditator with a depth of knowledge who models the results of a deep practice.
Dr. François Rousseau, PhD, Clinical Psychologist, Ottawa, Canada commented on 6-Aug-2013 12:03 PM
The Foundation Course was the best post-graduate training opportunity I have received. It was challenging but very rewarding. It deepened my understanding of MiCBT and the strategies involved to effect change, and helped me experience MiCBT from a client's point of view. As a result, I feel much more confident in using MiCBT in my clinical practice.
Sarah Cockell, PhD, Clinical Psychologist, Vancouver, BC, Canada commented on 4-Aug-2013 01:46 PM
This course is primarily experiential and for this reason it is both challenging and meaningful. The mindfulness practice was difficult to fit into my busy life with work, family, friends and parenting a toddler, but it actually created some much needed quiet time. I learned to value the practice, and look forward to it. The theoretical framework is well thought out, and easy to apply. The initial emphasis is on internal skills, and then the focus is on applying these skills to personal and interpersonal areas of distress. I've always been self aware but this course refined this skill and added a new dimension. I learned how to be less attached to my thoughts and reactivity, and to do the same for others. This sounds easy but in fact it's hard, and having gone through the training I have a genuine empathy for clients who are learning to do the same. Bruno is an exceptional instructor. He listens attentively and genuinely cares about his student's progress. He also has a great sense of humor, which keeps the training light and refreshing. I highly recommend this course to anyone who finds that CBT alone isn't helping their clients adequately. The mindfulness component is key to self regulation issues!
